Pre-K Counts at Conemaugh Valley

We are pleased to announce that our Pre-K Counts program is back on our
elementary campus for the 2025 school year!

Who Is Eligible?

Pre-K Counts is based on age and income eligibility. These are the eligibility
requirements for Conemaugh Valley:

Students must be four years old on or before September 1st.
Families must live in the Conemaugh Valley School District. Proof of
residency is required.
Families must meet the income guidelines which is defined as at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. You must provide proof of income.

Earned Income: W-2 forms, IRS form for reporting tips, pay stubs (at least two recent), a written
employer statement of anticipated earnings, or other document that establishes earnings or anticipated
earnings from employment.
Self-Employment: tax returns, business records or other documents establishing profit from self-
employment.
Unearned Income: copy of current benefit check (SSI, TANF, Unemployment compensation, etc.), award
letter that shows amount of grant or benefit, a bank statement showing interest, a court order, or other
document or database report that establishes the amount of unearned income.
Child Support: If a family receives or pays child support, please provide documentation showing the
amount. The eligibility agency shall verify the amount of support received or paid by the family by
documents from the Department of Public Welfare.

How Many Children Can We Service?

Conemaugh Valley is funded for 34 students. We have 2 classrooms with 17 children in each room. We have developed prioritization criteria to determine the order of eligibility. Our 34 slots will be filled with students who have the highest numbers of prioritization points first. Applications will be completed at Pre-K registration in May, but we will continue to accept applications through June 30th. If we have more than 34 qualifying applicants, lower scoring applicants will be placed on a waitlist. All applicants will be notified in July of their status in the program. We will continue to accept applications after the June 30th deadline; however, those qualifying applicants will be added to the waitlist.

How Do I Apply?

The Pre-K Counts application form is available here or you can pick up an enrollment packet at the elementary office. You must provide proof of income when you submit your application. The elementary office can send an enrollment packet home with an older elementary sibling if you are unable to come to the school. Please don’t be hesitant to submit an application after the school year has started! Having your application on file is highly recommended! You can be added to the waitlist. Slots may become available as the year progresses!

Child Care Works:

If you are already participating in Child Care Works or are on a waiting list for Child Care Works, you can submit the PA Pre-K Counts Verification Form available from the Child Care Information Services. Our regional ELRC#6 and the number is 1-800-323-9997. Contact us if you are unable to get this document.
