Description
The paraprofessional supports classroom instruction, student learning, and school operations under the direction of a certified teacher and/or building administrator. This role helps provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students so they can be successful in the high school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
-Assist teachers with delivering instruction, small-group work, and one-on-one student support
-Support students with accommodations, organization, and task completion per IEPs/504 plans as appropriate
-Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other school settings to ensure safety and positive behavior
-Help collect instructional materials, maintain an orderly learning environment, and support classroom management routines
-Collaborate and communicate with teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student needs and progress
-Maintain confidentiality and follow all school policies and procedures
Qualifications:
-High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary coursework or associate’s degree preferred
-Experience working with adolescents or in an educational setting preferred
-Strong communication, patience, and ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
